Troilo Baglioni († January 1506 ) was a bishop and protonotary of the Roman Church .

Life

He was born to Rudolfo Baglioni and Francesca, daughter of Simonetto da Castel San Pietro di Orvieto.

He should have become Bishop of Perugia as early as 1491, supported by his father, while his uncle, Guido Baglioni, stood up for his son Gentile. Pope Innocent VIII resolved this conflict by entrusting a third person with this office.

From 1499 to March 1501 he was prior of Santa Maria Maggiore in Spello. In this function he commissioned Pinturicchio to paint the Cappella Bella with frescoes in 1500 , which is now known as the Baglioni Chapel .

On August 27, 1501 Troilo was appointed bishop of Perugia and resigned after two years on August 4, 1503.

In 1505 he commissioned Raffael, together with Gabriele de 'Gabrielli, to carry out the fresco Trinità e Santi in the chapel of San Severo in the monastery of the same name in the Umbrian city of Perugia.

Troilo died in January 1506.
