Trollforsen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Trollforsen is one of the largest rapids in Europe. It is located in the northern Swedish municipality of Arvidsjaur .

The river Piteälven flows over a distance of 800 m between rocks and over cliffs, overcoming a considerable difference in altitude. The surrounding natural forest is criss-crossed by rivers and oxbow lakes, smaller lakes and swamps . The area is partially open to hikers. From Moskosel , an approximately 15 km long gravel road leads to a parking lot, the hiking trail begins with a narrow, swaying suspension bridge over the river (approved for a maximum of two people at the same time - or 150 kg -), and can be recognized by trail markers.
