Drop heart

With drops heart is known in the radiology a not enlarged, the X-ray image is actually reminiscent of a drop of heart, which is not really a slight angle to the left (from the patient's perspective) in foot direction but pointing straight down and also directly seated centrally in the chest.

It occurs as Cor asthenicum in thin people , but also z. B. as a result of pulmonary emphysema with (due to the distended lungs) abnormally low diaphragm . As a result of the depression of the diaphragm , the heart expands in a vertical direction and becomes slimmer, and left heart atrophy usually occurs due to the reduced cardiac output .
