The Troutbeck Site of Special Scientific Interest is a specially protected nature reserve within the Lake District , Cumbria , England . The Site of Special Scientific Interest covers the headwaters of the Trout Beck up to the beginning of the Hird Wood , the ridge Troutbeck Tongue and the Hagg Gill east of it .

The reserve covers 773.8 hectares and was established in this form in 1990. The area is characterized by its vegetation, which is characterized by fern and grassland, which has both regionally typical and rare species in an unusually large variety.
