background

The art action on a display board was installed in Times Square in early May 2020 ; it is the work of filmmaker Eugene Jarecki.

The aim of the clock is, similar to a memorial for fallen soldiers, to quantify the lives that were lost due to Trump's hesitation during the COVID-19 pandemic . According to the artist, the watch is an expression of Trump's ruthlessness in relation to his pandemic reactions. Donald Trump is accused of reacting too late to the spread of the virus. The figure is based on the creator's assumption that 60 percent of deaths in the US could have been prevented with faster action and responses.
