Trump Vodka

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Trump Vodka is a vodka brand of Trump Organization under the name of the owner Donald Trump . The brand started in 2005, production was discontinued in 2011 due to lack of demand. The brand still has some success in Israel , where it is mainly sold around the time of Passover .

history

Drinks Americas signed a deal with Donald Trump in 2005 to market the Trump Vodka brand. The slogan was Success Distilled , and Trump predicted sales of the US-leading brand, Gray Goose Vodka, would outperform. Likewise, a tonic cocktail called Trump & Tonic would become the most widely drunk cocktail in the United States. In 2007, Drinks Americas signed a contract to export 50,000 boxes a year to Russia. The retail price was around US $ 30, higher than the Smirnoff or Absolut brands . The vodka production was in the Netherlands, the distillery is now insolvent. The glass bottle is reminiscent of a skyscraper, two sides are covered with gold, two sides are transparent and all four sides have a large T as a logo. The Spirit Journal wrote that the taste of the vodka is very reminiscent of breakfast cereals and cakes and awarded four out of five possible stars.

The Trump Vodka brand was discontinued in 2011 due to a lack of sales. One of the reasons given was that Trump himself was an anti-alcoholic because he blamed alcohol as the cause of his brother Fred's death. Trump Vodka was not submitted to the Federal Election Committee as campaign material during the 2015 election campaign for the election of the American President .

Litigation

Drinks Americas had several lawsuits over Trump Vodka. The bottle manufacturer Bruni Glass sued for unpaid bills and so 500,000 ready-to-ship mini bottles of Trump Vodka were melted down. Donald Trump sued Drinks Americas for unpaid royalties, but the case was dismissed because the court found it inconsistent.

Israel

Trump Vodka was unofficially distributed in Israel by H. Pixel International under a contract with Drinks Americas, but Trump sued Drinks Americas for copyright infringement because the company did not have the rights to use an image of his face in advertising. Trump later withdrew the lawsuit and signed a contract with H. Pixel International to enable Trump Vodka to be sold in Israel. Although the brand was unsuccessful in the US, it had some success in Israel because it was a possible choice for Orthodox Jews on Passover . The German-made vodka was distilled from potatoes and not from grain and was therefore considered kosher for Passover. However, in 2013 a delivery was discovered that was not certified and possibly contained leaven and was therefore not suitable for use on Passover. The delivery was recalled from the shelves.
