The Tschofenhaus (also: Tschofenhaus residential and commercial building or Das Stadthotel or Tscherpa-Tschofa ) is a former residential and commercial building and is now a hotel in Rathausgasse 2 in Bludenz . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

The core of the imposing house dates from the 16th and 17th centuries (according to another opinion from the 15th century). The striking frescoes of the traditional costumes on the facade were added in 1937.

history

After two devastating city fires in 1638 and 1682, the Tschofenhaus was rebuilt and extended. It was further adapted several times over the centuries. In 1937 the distinctive images of citizens were attached to the facade. For decades, household goods (crockery and chinaware) and before that ironware were sold in this house by the Tschofen family . The name: Tscherpa-Tschofen ( colloquial for broken glass ) also comes from this time .

In January 2018, a massive renovation of the interior of the Tschofenhaus and the renovation of the facade began. A hotel has been in operation in the Tschofenhaus since December 2018. The directly attached old Bludenzer Café "Eberle" is now part of the new restaurant / hotel.

Location and architecture

The Tschofenhaus is located in the middle of the city center of Bludenz, directly opposite the town hall and the Nepomuk fountain. It consists of historical stone masonry with wooden beam ceilings. The property has an area of ​​354 m², the usable area of ​​the hotel is 579 m². The cellar that can be used by the hotel is only 56 m². The existing roof structure was renewed in 1977 and added dormer windows in 2018. In the course of the conversion to a hotel, around 2.75 million euros were invested.

The Eberle House was added to the Tschofenhaus around 80 years ago .

Inside there are partially listed stucco ceilings, ceiling panels and wall cladding.

The hotel in Tschofenhaus has twelve rooms with 24 beds and 70 seats in the restaurant and another 60 in the guest garden.
