Tsongkha
Tsongkha (Tib. Tsong-kha , "onion valley ") is an area around Xining (Sining) in the east of Qinghai in the northeast Tibetan region of Amdo .
The Huang River (Ch. Huang Shui; Tib. Tsong Chu ), a main tributary of the Yellow River , flows through it from west to east and, together with the area around Xining, forms what the Tibetans call Tsongkha.
The Tibetan reformer Tsongkhapa ("Person from Tsongkha") was born here.
In the 11th century, the area around Xining known in Chinese as Qingtang ( 青 唐 , Qīngtáng , Ch'ing-t'ang ) was a Tibetan Buddhist kingdom.
