Tsubota Jōji

Tsubota Jōji ( Japanese 坪 田 譲 治 ; born March 3, 1890 in Okayama Prefecture ; † July 7, 1982 ) was a Japanese children's author.

Life

He studied English literature and was subsequently a student of the youth book author Ogawa Mimei . He started writing children's stories in the 1920s. His breakthrough came in 1936 with his children's story Obake no sekai : He was awarded the Asahi Prize in 1973 .
