Tuirenn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tuirenn , also Turenn or Tuireann , is a legendary figure from the Celtic mythology of Ireland .

Tuirenn is the son of Ogma and the father of Danus , Étaín and the three brothers Brian , Iuchar and Iucharba , who are always mentioned in the legend Aided Chlainne Tuirenn ("The Death of the Children of Tuirenn") as "the three sons of Tuirenn" . In other versions Delbaeth is named as their father, so that a unity of the two figures is considered by some Celtologists.

With Flidais he has the daughters Fand , Bé Chuma and Be Theite .

Tuirenn is sometimes equated with Bricriu with the nickname Nemthega (" poison tongue "), the title hero of the story Fled Bricrenn ("Bricrius Fest").
