Tukur Yusuf Buratai (born November 24, 1960 ) is a major general of the Nigerian Army and chief of staff of the armed forces.

Before Tukur Buratai became Chief of Staff, he was Commander-in-Chief of the Multinational Joint Task Force (regional counter-terrorism reaction force), which consists of army forces from Cameroon, Benin, Chad, Nigeria, Niger and Benin. On July 13, 2015, Buratai was appointed Chief of Staff by the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari . He succeeded Alex Badeh, who so far has not been able to stop the advance of the Islamist terrorist militia Boko Haram in large parts of the country.
