List of geese breeds

The Tula fighting goose ( Russian Тульская бойцовая ) is an old Russian breed of goose , which, together with the somewhat larger Arsamas goose, was counted among the short-billed geese by Bruno Dürigen .

Tula geese have been bred for goose fighting for several centuries. Their outstanding feature is the shortened, parrot-like beak that attaches directly to the forehead.

description

The Tula fighting goose is a strong, well-built, medium-sized goose with a broad and stocky body, a very short beak, and strong, rounded feet. Her eyes are brown. The breed is considered agile and toughened.

The strikingly short beak, which is set on the forehead quite strongly and without a kink, is characteristic. The line of the upper beak follows the direction of the forehead. The dull and parchment yellow beak is wedge-shaped, often curved downwards towards the white tip ( crooked beak ). The short, broad-foreheaded, very thick and almost round head sits on a steep-nosed, long, slender, slightly curved neck, equipped with powerful muscles. The eyes are large and black, rarely gray or blue.

Wrestling fighting geese man takes the instinct of Ganter advantage to protect their flock, which is why their favorite goose be taken to the battlefield. The fight is a bit like sumo wrestling . Injuries to the animals are not intended. The gander grab each other by the base of their wings and begin to push. Your geese seem to cheer on the gander by chattering, making them even more excited and stimulating them to bite and hit. Whoever is pushed away has lost the fight.

Breeding goal

Preservation of robustness, pure (Russian) breed, original appearance and fighter characteristics. Laying performance per goose is approx. 15 eggs per year. At the age of 60 days, the young animal must have a live weight of 4 kg. The goose should be a good breeding goose and raise the goslings well.
