The tulip apple is an old regional variety that is known on the Rhine ( Bonn ), in the Bergisches Land and in the Netherlands ("rode tulpappel"). It was already widespread in the Rhineland around 1900, but its origin is unknown. It is still widespread in orchards and is still known there under this name and is used as an industrial apple. The tree is medium to strong growing and is considered a robust fruit variety. The apple ripens from September to November.
