Avennes Tumulus

The Tumulus von Avennes ( French Tumulus d'Avennes ) is a Gallo-Roman burial mound in the Belgian municipality of Braives in the west of the province of Liège . The burial mound is located northeast of Avennes and northwest of Braives, at the junction of the Drève des Ormes, on the Chaussée Romaine (N69). The hill belongs to the municipality of Braives and was thereby saved and has been protected since 1978.

The tumulus was dated to 80 AD. The excavations have revealed objects from the time of the Flavian emperors, which are in the Grand Curtius Museum in Liège .

On the Ferraris map from 1777 the hill is called "Tombe d'Avene" (old spelling of the place).

Nearby is the La tombe d'Yve tumulus.
