Tune

Tune generally refersto a melody or tune in English .

Especially in the area of the Celtic Folks is Tune a generic term for any melody (usually dance pieces), especially for instrumental pieces unlike the sung song (Engl. Song ). The main types of tunes are Reel , Jig , Hornpipe , March , Air , Lament and Set Dance . There are also numerous regional special forms such as slide , Irish polka, fling , barndance , Pibroch and Strathspey .

In the 19th century, other tuna types such as mazurka , polka , Scottish , or waltz were added.

A tune usually consists of two different parts of eight bars . Several tunes are often put together to form a so-called set (mostly tunes of the same type) or piece (mostly different tunes, often increasing in tempo).
