The Wetzlar tunnel , also known as the Dalheim noise protection enclosure , is an approx. 300 m long road tunnel that leads the B 49 through the Dalheim district of Wetzlar .

The enclosure was opened in 2003 as part of the widening of federal highway 49 to four lanes. The tunnel solution became necessary due to the expected further increase in noise pollution on the B 49. The traffic now runs through two two-lane tubes. With around 35,000 vehicles per day, the road section has an extremely high traffic load for a federal road .
