The Turbomeca Palouste was a turbo air supplier from the French manufacturer Turbomeca . It was developed in the early 1950s and remained in production until the mid-1960s.

The design of the Palouste is based on the Turbomeca Artouste and uses its combustion chamber and turbine as well as the auxiliary drives. The main difference is the enlarged compressor, which enables compressed air to be taken from the engine via a nozzle. This compressed air could be used, for example, as a medium for the blade tip drive of helicopter rotors. Initially, a quantity of around 0.85 kg / s of compressed air was available, but this was increased considerably.

In this way, the more powerful Palouste IV was used in series production as a compressed air generator for the Sud-Ouest SO 1221 Djinn helicopter . By 1963, 390 paloustes had been ordered and sold.

A license production took place in Great Britain at Blackburn and Bristol Siddeley , and in the USA at Continental .
