The gymnastics and water sports club Göttingen from 1861 ( TWG 1861 ) is the third largest sports club in Göttingen with around 2200 members. It was founded on January 1, 2015 after the union of the Gymnastics and Sports Association of 1861 Göttingen (Tuspo 1861) and the Göttingen Watersports Association of 1908 (Waspo 08), which in turn was founded in 1979 through the merger of the SV Göttingen 08 swimming club and the water sports association from 1924.

Canoe racing

  • 2006: 1st place in the DM for Margret Neher over 200 and 500 m in KI, as well as silver over 600 m in KII and bronze over 1000 m in KI
