history

The TG Schweinfurt is the oldest sports club in the city after the riflemen and was originally located at the northern gates of the old town. In 1962 the company moved to the then newly built sports facilities in the vicinity of the Haardt district , which were expanded until the 1970s. The sports facilities of the TG Schweinfurt are among the largest in the city and include a triple and a double gymnasium, a martial arts hall, a fencing hall, a tennis hall, a ballet room and a soccer field with a running track, tennis courts and side courts. The club has 27 sporting departments, including several sports that are only offered on site by TG Schweinfurt. The gymnastics department (including competitive gymnastics , rhythmic gymnastics ) and the judoka, which are among the best teams in southern Germany, are particularly important in the club . Martin Schmidt, Vice European Champion in epee fencing, comes from the youth team of the TG Schweinfurt. The club's premises, which also include a restaurant, are also often used for non-sporting major events such as during the carnival season. After FC Schweinfurt 05 and FT Schweinfurt , the club has the largest football department in town.
