Rotation (exhibition)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The rotating exhibitions of the Swiss Art Association ( French Exposition itinérante de la Société Suisse des Beaux-Arts , Italian Esposizione svizzera di belle-arti ) were art exhibitions that were held in various Swiss cities (mainly German-speaking Switzerland) from 1840 to 1961 .

The Swiss Art Exhibition Turnus was created “based on a model of a traveling exhibition that is unique in Europe and was intended to spread art throughout the country”. As the “only regularly held Swiss art exhibition at national level”, the Rotus received financial support from the federal government from 1860 onwards . The Society of Swiss Painters, Sculptors and Architects accused the cycle of unprofessionalism and conservatism , boycotted it in 1921 and helped it to be included in the Swiss National Art Exhibition in 1956 .
