Tower of David (lat. Turris Davidica ) is in Judaism and Christianity synonymous with an impregnable castle keep and confident strength of faith in the face of the enemy. In the Song of Songs 7.5 EU Salomon writes about his beloved: "Your neck is a tower of ivory" and "Like the tower of David your neck is built in layers of stones - a thousand shields hang on it, nothing but the weapons of heroes" 4,4 EU .

Christianity

In Christianity, the term has long been considered the honorary title of Mary , mother of Jesus Christ . The image of the tower appears twice in the invocations of the Litany of Loreto :

You mighty tower of David - pray for us!
You ivory tower - pray for us!

The fact that Mary is invoked as a tower is primarily related to three aspects:
