Turtanu

Turtānu (also Ta / urtannu; Hebrew תַּרְתָּן Tartan ) is the title of the Assyrian general (see 2 Kings 18:17; Isa 20: 1), who corresponded to the rank of general and was directly subordinate to the king. The title was Ashur-iska-danin 720 BC. BC, Abdai 694 BC BC and Bel-emurani 686 BC Chr.

In the language of the Bible , the title is used as a proper name.
