Twinkle is free software for IP telephony ( Voice-over-IP ) and is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). In addition to the Session Initiation Protocol (hence SIP telephone ), Twinkle uses a number of other protocols, all of which are freely and publicly documented. The user interface uses the Qt library .
development
The project was initiated by the developer M. de Boer, the last publication in this context took place in February 2009 (as of September 2015).
The developer Luboš Doležel then split off with the particular aim of porting the software from the now obsolete Qt version 3 or 4 to the current version 5.
Availability
Twinkle is included in many Linux distributions as a complete software package and can therefore usually be installed with a few clicks of the mouse. If necessary, the current Twinkle version can be translated from the source text with little effort. A Windows version of Twinkle does not yet exist.
