Twitter Xmas Single or #twitterxmassingle is a Twitter music project from Ireland .

On November 19, 2011, Brenda Drumm from Ireland had the idea of ​​a "Twitter Xmas Single" and started an action on Twitter . Within a very short time, 140 Twitter users were found, including professional musicians who wanted to take part in the project and who came to the Westin Hotel eight days later in the capital city of Dublin to record together. The Winter Song was chosen as the Twitter Christmas carol, which was already in the Irish charts as a duet by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson .

As of December 4th, the song was offered on iTunes , where it reached number 1 in Ireland. Shortly thereafter, it entered the official charts at number 8. Proceeds from the charity will go to the National Maternity Hospital premature baby unit on Holles Street, Dublin.

The following year the project was repeated and was called # txs2 . The song Holding On for Christmas was written especially for the project by well-known Christian song composer Ian Callanan. The organization Console , which looks after those at risk of suicide and the survivors of suicides, was selected as the beneficiary of the campaign . The volunteer musicians and singers met on November 11th and the results were published on December 9th. The second single could not build on the first success and only came in at number 63 in Ireland.
