Type code number
The type code number (TSN) is an eight-digit alphanumeric code that specifies the vehicle type of a manufacturer
- the three-digit key number for the type (e.g. AAA) and
- the five-digit key number for the variant and version of the type (VVS) (e.g. 00002)
specified. In the registration certificate part I ( vehicle registration document ) and part II ( vehicle registration document ) it is specified in field 2.2 together with the check digit as a nine-digit code. (e.g. AAA000021)
For vehicles that were typed in Germany before October 1, 2005, a six-digit alphanumeric code was assigned, which is transferred from field 3 (vehicle documents issued before October 1, 2005 - example 5990445) to field 2.2 (" 599 0445 ")
The type code number is taken into account
- Model,
- Body shape ,
- Motorization and
- Fuel energy source (former designation: type of drive )
Together with the manufacturer's key number (HSN), a vehicle type can be clearly identified. (Example 0005 / AAA / 00002/1 or 0600/599 / 044/5)
