The Reinprechtsdorfer Straße station ( Bacherplatz in earlier plans ) is a station of the Vienna subway that is currently under construction and is being built as part of the U2 / U5 expansion project . The first preparatory work with relocating the infrastructure under the road surface as well as building the foundations of affected houses began in 2019. According to the current state of planning, the station is to be opened in 2027. Due to the construction work, Reinprechtsdorfer Straße between Schönbrunner Straße (Wiental) and Gürtel / Matzleinsdorfer Platz will be one-way out of town.

The Reinprechtsdorfer Straße station is part of the new south branch of the U2 underground line from Schottentor to Matzleinsdorfer Platz . It will be the only station on this extension that will not have another underground or S-Bahn connection.

The Reinprechtsdorfer Straße station will connect the district center of the 5th Viennese district Margareten to the higher-level rail network. So far, the district is only served along the northern border to the 6th district by the underground line U4 with the stations Pilgramgasse (after completion: transfer station U4 / U2) and Margaretengürtel , as well as along the southern border to the 10th district by the S- Railway touches the Matzleinsdorfer Platz stop .

The station development will take place at the southern end of the platform in Siebenbrunnengasse and at the northern end of the platform at Bacherplatz along Spengergasse. There you will probably be able to change to bus routes 12A, 14A, 59A.

The neighboring stations along the U2 will be the Pilgramgasse underground station and the Matzleinsdorfer Platz underground station .
