U.FL , also called IPEX , IPAX , IPX , AMC , MHF or UMCC , is a standard for miniature HF connectors for high frequency signals up to 6 GHz from Hirose Electric .

The connectors are often used in applications where space is limited, e.g. B. in routers , WLAN modules or within laptops and embedded systems to connect the WLAN antenna to a circuit board .

Female U.FL plugs are not intended for repeated use, they are only specified for a few mating operations. The male connectors are soldered directly onto the circuit board as SMD components . The connectors have an impedance of 50 ohms. The mated connection is only 2.5 mm high and requires about 9 mm 2 of area on the circuit board .

The U.FL connector was developed in the early 1990s. Like many other electronic components, it was protected by patents.
