The embassy is located in Viale Liegi 2 in Rome . The ambassador of Costa Rica next to the Italian government is also regularly accredited to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations .

history

In 1849 Ferdinand II (Sicily), King of the Two Sicilies, recognized Costa Rica's independence . In 1861 the government of José María Montealegre Fernández recognized the Risorgimento of the Kingdom of Sardinia Piamonte to the Kingdom of Italy . On April 14, 1863, Ezequiel Gutiérrez Iglesias and Lewis Otto von Schroeter, Consul of the Kingdom of Italy in San José (Costa Rica) signed the Tratado Iglesias von Schröter , a treaty on trade and friendship. The first diplomatic representative of the Kingdom of Italy in Costa Rica was Giuseppe Anfora di Licignano , who, based in Guatemala City , was recognized as chargé d'affaires in 1868.
