Francisco Antonio Pacheco Fernández
Francisco Antonio Pacheco Fernández (* 1940 in Alajuela ) is a former Costa Rican politician and diplomat.
Life
He received his PhD in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of Strasbourg . From 1982 to 1985 he was ambassador to Rome and Belgrade and was the first Costa Rican ambassador to be accredited to Enver Hoxha in Tirana . From 1986 to 1990 he was Minister of Education in the Óscar Arias Sánchez government . From July 2003 to 2010 he was chairman of the Partido Liberación Nacional . From 2006 to 2010 he was MP and Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica . When Óscar Arias Sánchez fell ill with the H1N1 2009/10 pandemic in August 2009 , he was Executive President according to the constitution.
