The UBS Gstaad Pro-Am is a golf tournament with regional appeal, which is held at the Gstaad - Saanenland Golf Club in Switzerland.

history

The tournament has been held since 1986 and has been supported by UBS since the beginning . After a few changes in the main sponsors, UBS returned as main sponsor in 2008.

Game format

Teams made up of a professional golfer and three amateurs start at this two-day tournament . The tournament is public and there are a total of 42 team starting places available. The only criterion for registration is the handicap limit for amateurs. It is 24 for women and 18 for men. This game format is called Pro-Am. After 36 holes have been played, the two best net ratings per hole count for the team rating. The team and individual ratings of the professional golfers gained over two rounds are evaluated.

Attendees

The UBS Gstaad Pro-Am is one of the few Pro-Am's that offer members of a recognized golf club the opportunity to put together their own flight and take part in a national competition as a team.

In the years since this tournament was founded, there have been professional golfers who play on the Challenge , Alps or Ladies European Tour or belong to the Swiss Professional Golf Association (Swiss PGA). There were some who took part in the Solheim Cup or played tournaments on the European Tour , such as: Martina Eberl (De), Julien Clément (CH), Raphaël de Sousa (CH), Martin Rominger (CH), Nicolas Sulzer (CH), Nuria Clau (E), Sara Beautell (E), Marcus Knight (UK) and others.
