UFC 231: Holloway vs. Ortega was a mixed martial arts event of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). It took place on December 8, 2018 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto , Ontario , Canada and was broadcast as pay-per-view .

The main fight is a match between Max Holloway and Brian Ortega for the featherweight title. Here Holloway goes into battle as the reigning title holder. The fight between the two was supposed to be played at UFC 226 , but at that time Holloway had to cancel the fight due to comparable symptoms of a concussion .

At UFC 231 there is a second title fight with the fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jędrzejczyk . The two mixed martial arts fighters try to win the flyweight title. The previous title holder, Nicco Montaño , was stripped of the title after she could not contest a fight against Shevchenko at UFC 228 for health reasons.
