ISDN reference model with U reference point

The U G2 interface is in ISDN - primary multiplex connections , an interface for the transmission path between the local switch (local exchange) of the network operator and the network termination ( NTPM ) at the customer on the basis of optical fiber cables , the NTPMGF . The U G2 interface consists of two glass fibers , one for each direction, and achieves a data transfer rate of up to 2 Mbit / s.

The U in the name stands for the reference point of the interface in the ISDN reference model (see figure) and the G stands for fiber optics .
