U interface

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the ISDN access network, the U interface is the interface on the subscriber line between the local exchange and the network termination . The designation with "U" comes from the ISDN reference model, in which there are the reference points S, T, U and V and corresponding interface definitions.

While U K0 is the designation for this interface on the basic access , U K2 and U G2 are those of the primary rate access .

The U-ADSL interface is used to connect ADSL modems. It is the interface between the local exchange and the splitter .

Analogous to this form of designation, the extension technology has chosen similar designations for corresponding interfaces, albeit in a different technology, for example U p0 and U pN .

For the U interface, standardized physical and electrical specifications apply throughout Europe, so that it is possible to connect network terminations (NT) from different manufacturers. With ADSL However, this is not (yet) the case, the U-ADSL specification of Deutsche Telekom , although generally accessible, but is only valid in Germany.
