The USS America (LHA-6) is an American amphibious assault ship and carrier for helicopters and VTOL aircraft . She is the lead ship of the America class . She has been in service since October 11, 2014. Her first home port was San Diego and since December 1, 2019 she has been stationed in Sasebo, Japan, as part of the 7th fleet.
