USS Heron (MHC-52)

The USS Heron (MHC-52) was delivered to the US Navy as a minehunter on July 22, 1994 and entered service on August 6, 1994. She is the second Osprey- class ship .

Since July 15, 1995 , the ship belonged to the Naval Reserve Force and was used for the training of reservists. On March 16, 2007 , the Heron was decommissioned together with the USS Pelican (MHC-53) and handed over to the Greek Navy in "warm condition" . After completing a basic repair and training of the crew, the two ships were moved to Greece . The Heron was renamed Kalipso .

The USS Heron (MHC-52) was the third ship with this name.
