USS Missouri

Four ships of the United States Navy were named USS Missouri in honor of the state of Missouri :

• The first USS Missouri was an 1841 frigate that burned in August 1843.
• The second USS Missouri was a Maine- class ship of the line launched in 1901 and decommissioned in 1919.
• The third USS Missouri was an Iowa- class battleship . The ship, launched in 1944, served in the Navy until 1992 and is moored as a museum ship in Pearl Harbor .
• The fourth USS Missouri is a Virginia- class submarine launched in 2009 and entered service in 2010.
