U Build Me Up is a song by the German pop group Bro'Sis . It was written by Blair MacKichan and produced by Fredrik "Fredro" Ödesjö for the third studio album Showtime (2004).
Style and content
It's a mid-tempo contemporary R&B song with hip-hop elements. The lyrics are about a person who is addressed in you-form, who with their contradicting behavior both builds up and "tears down" the narrator.
Music video
A 3:43 minute long music video was shot and published for the song in Berlin with Katja Kuhl. It shows the group during a session with an acoustic guitar in the basement of the decommissioned Rummelsburg power plant - in a former staff room - and together with fans.
reception
The single was released on April 5, 2004 on Cheyenne Records and Polydor . It reached number 20 in Germany and number 51 in Austria and became the band's last chart success in the single charts. In Germany, U Build Me Up became Bro'Sis' ninth chart success, in Austria it was the eighth chart success in the single charts. MacKichan reached the charts in Germany and Austria for the first time as an author.
