Udones were Roman socks made of wool, but they rather fulfilled the function of today's slippers . They were a counterpart to the made of felt Tibialia . However, they were not particularly robust and were therefore only worn on streets or in houses.

The Udones were worn in the private sector by almost all levels of Roman society, they were cheap and an everyday occurrence throughout the Roman Empire .
