Uduri-Etiuni

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

KUR Uduri-Etiuni was an alliance of states at the southeast end of Lake Sevan . It is only known from Urartian inscriptions.

It consisted of Arquqini / Arququini, Kamanu / ni and Lueruni . In the east it bordered on Urteḫi . Its borders were the Sevan Mountains and Vardenis Mountains in the south and east and the Argichi in the west. Biscione et al. also consider a location in the Masrik Valley to be possible.

The annals of Argišti I report that in his third year of reign he went against Uduri-Etiuni: "I defeated the land of Etiuni and reached the land of Iskugulu and the land of Uduri-Etiuni."

The inscription of Atacham describes the campaign of Sarduri II against Uduri-Etiuni. The inscription from Zowak describes the conquest of Arquqini. In his chronicle he mentions victories over Arquqi, Kamani and Lueruni. The conquest probably took place towards the end of his life, Melikišvili sets it between 742 and 739, i.e. after the defeat against Tukulti-apil-Ešarra III. and the loss of possessions on the Euphrates . According to his report, he killed 10,000 youths, 4,600 men and 23,200 women.
