Uggarde rojr
The Uggarde rojr (also Uggårda rojr ) is the highest cairn grave ( Röse ) on the Swedish island of Gotland . It is located between the church of Rone and Ronehamn in the north of Gansviken near the southern tip of Gotland.
description
The Bronze Age (1800–500 BC) cairn has a diameter of fifty and a height of seven meters. This makes it one of the so-called Storröse, of which around 400 are found on Gotland. A circle of relatively large blocks runs around the cairn. There are a few more Roses nearby.
The Röse was built about 250 m from the beach line at that time. Today it is located about one kilometer from the coast because of the land uplift .
The rose, which is mainly thrown up from field stones , has not yet been examined. During excavations carried out in their vicinity in 2009, animal bones, stone chips and traces of settlement were discovered.
The Lejsturojr is a Roese at Rone, about 1.0 kilometers north of Ronehamn.
The asteroid (10807) Uggarde , discovered in 1993, was named after the site.
