Uhlenbrock (Munster)
The peasantry Uhlenbrock is located in the northwest corner of the Westphalian city of Münster , to which the peasantry (in Münsterland is this term "Bauer instead n Society" usual) has been part of municipal reform of 1975, between the peasantry Haeger and the city limits.
It probably got its name from Gut Uhlenbrock, a former noble, free estate. In the 15th and 16th centuries it was owned by Droste zu Uhlenbrock, a line of Droste zu Hülshoff , which was founded by Alhard III. († 1593), a son of the mayor of Münster Everwin II of Droste zu Handorf and Gertrud von Steveninck zu Möllenbeck, was founded. His wife Margaretha von Kerckerinck also inherited an hereditary man's farm in the city of Münster in 1541 . Sons from this marriage were the successors Everwin IV. Droste zu Uhlenbrock († 1611) and Heinrich II. Droste zu Uhlenbrock, from whom the Droste descended at court. The Drostes in Danzig and Königsberg also derived their descent from the Droste zu Uhlenbrock.
To this day, the peasantry consists of scattered farms with no local character.
The name Uhlenbrock does not come from "Uhlen / Eulen", as might be assumed, but is derived from Ohl or Aul, which means swamp, and also "-brock" (with a long o , otherwise also written Brook ) for " break , damp meadow, swamp or mud bottom ".
