The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Prince Apostles Peter and Paul in the Munich district of Feldmoching-Hasenbergl belong to the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church in the diaspora , which is subordinate to the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople .
history
In the Ukraine , during the course of Soviet rule, the church was suppressed, which is why many Christians, along with some of their clergy, etc. a. went into German exile. After the founding of charitable Ukrainian institutions such as schools or libraries, parishes were founded. Since clergymen from Ukraine were already living in Germany, this made it easier for them to be founded. Initially, the services were held in refugee camps. With the emigration of many refugees and forced laborers to Great Britain, Canada and the USA, the camps were dissolved and the permanent refugees moved to settlements built for emigrants such as Ludwigsfeld .
With this, the established parishes were also relocated, in Ludwigsfeld to an empty barracks. In Ludwigsfeld, the congregation of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul has been located at Granatstrasse 1 since 1968.
The parish was initially headed by Pastor Alexander Simonowicz, then by Pastor Paladi Dubitsky, who served as the parish council in Ludwigsfeld for over 40 years and until 1998. Pastor Valentin Smoktunowicz has taken on this task since 1998.
On July 22, 2007, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko visited St. Peter and Paul Church.
Church services take place regularly. The biggest festival for the congregation is the Patronium Festival on July 12, the commemoration day of the apostles Peter and Paul.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church adheres to the Julian calendar , which follows the Gregorian 13 days.
