The Ukrainian language Wikipedia ( Ukrainian Українська Вікіпедія Ukrayins'ka Vikipediya ) is the Wikipedia in the Ukrainian language , which was founded on January 30, 2004. As of March 10, 2020, it had 996,000 articles and 496,000 registered users, of which 3,163 were active. In February 2012 it was the 14th largest Wikipedia language version, in March 2020 it was ranked 17th.

Volodymyr Bilezkyj ( Володимир Стефанович Білецький ), professor at the National Mining University of Ukraine in Donetsk , wrote more than 10,000 articles on mining using his own mining encyclopedia.

In 2013, the Ukrainian History Institute at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine gave Ukrainian Wikipedia permission to use the digital version of the Encyclopedia of Ukrainian History .

In 2014, authors of the Ukrainian Wikipedia took first place in the project Wiki Loves Monuments from 41 countries for the number of uploaded files.

On January 21, 2014, as part of the Euromaidan protests, the Ukrainian Wikipedia community decided to block access to Wikipedia every day between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m. The background to this were ten laws that came into force on January 17, 2014, which restricted freedom of assembly.

In March 2019, the Ukrainian Wikipedia had about 2.5 million users per day.
