The Uksitschan ( Russian Уксичан ) is a massive shield volcano in the Sredinny ridge on the Russian peninsula of Kamchatka . Its height is 1692 meters, it covers an area of 1850 square kilometers and with a total volume of about 300 cubic kilometers is one of the largest volcanoes on the Sredinny ridge. The summit of the volcano is dominated by a caldera with a diameter of 12 kilometers, which is covered with several Dazzite lava domes with a height of up to 900 meters. The oldest lava flows are 15 to 20 kilometers long. The west and northwest flanks of the volcano are formed entirely by lava flows, but the east and southeast flanks are covered by pyroclastic material.
