Uldis Augulis (born March 16, 1972 in Dobele ) is a Latvian politician of the Zaļo un Zemnieku savienība .

Life

Uldis Augulis was born in 1972 in what was then the Latvian SSR . He studied finance at the University of Latvia .

Activity in politics

Augulis began to get involved in politics for the Latvian Farmers' Union in the late 1990s . In the next few years he was initially active locally in his hometown Dobele.

From November 2006 to December 2007 he was a substitute member of the Latvian Parliament ( Saeima ). In the Cabinet Dombrovskis I was Augulis social affairs minister, then in the Cabinet Dombrovskis II Transport Minister. In the parliamentary elections in Latvia in 2010 , he entered parliament directly, although he waived his mandate when he was appointed to the cabinet. After the new elections in 2011 , he was initially no longer considered as a minister, but before that he had managed to defend his mandate. In the Cabinet Straujuma I and in the Cabinet Straujuma II he was again active as Minister of Social Affairs. In Kučinski's cabinet he was again Minister of Transport of Latvia. As part of this activity, his mandate was suspended again (even after his re-election in 2014). In the 2018 parliamentary elections , he once again managed to defend his mandate in the Saeima . The group alliance of the Greens and Farmers then elected him on November 6, 2018 as chairman of the group in the new parliament.
