Ulla Hahn Author Award

The Ulla Hahn author award is a German literary award that has been awarded by the city of Monheim am Rhein every two years since 2012 as a sponsorship award.

The price

The Ulla Hahn Author Award is given to a German-language first work (poetry or prose) that was published no more than five years ago and that must be by an author under the age of 35 who lives in the Federal Republic of Germany. "The award is for a work that creates a connection to its own origin and life in a special way and artistically works on the tension between reality and fiction." The prize is named after the poet and writer Ulla Hahn , who grew up in Monheim am Rhein .

The prize was initially endowed with € 6,000; since 2016 it has been 10,000 euros and is provided by the Monheim Foundation of the Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf . In addition to the city of Monheim am Rhein, the Ulla Hahn House there is also involved in the award of the prize .

In the first four awards, works by women authors were honored without exception.
