Ullerwood Castle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ullerwood Castle (or Ullersford Castle ) is an Outbound castle near the village of Ringway in the English county Greater Manchester .

The castle is first mentioned in a document in 1173. It is noted there that Hamo de Masci owns the castles of Ullerwood and Dunham . There are no other contemporary documents about the castle.

Often Ullerwood Castle is confused with Watch Hill Castle in nearby Bowdon . However, these are two different castles, which probably both belonged to Hamo de Masci .

The remains of the castle lie under a house and are surrounded by trees.
