Coin portrait of Severina

Ulpia Severina was the wife of the Roman emperor Aurelian , who ruled from 270 to 275. It is not mentioned by any historian, but its existence is documented by coins, which also suggest that after Aurelian's death she ruled in her own name until Tacitus was raised as emperor .

Ulpia Severina may have been a daughter of the emperor Philip Arab and his wife Otacilia Severa . A descent from Emperor Trajan (98-117), who like Ulpia Severina, descended from the gens Ulpia , is unlikely.
