Ulrich I of Wettin

Ulrich von Wettin (* around 1170 ; † September 28, 1206 in Wettin ) was the son of Heinrich I, Count von Wettin and Sophia, daughter of Count Palatine Friedrich von Sommerschenburg. He was the grandson of Konrad the Great , Margrave of Meißen and Lower Lusatia, Count of Wettin. He was Count von Wettin from 1187 until his death. After the death of his son Heinrich, the County of Wettin fell to his cousin, the Wettin Friedrich II von Brehna and Wettin .

In his second marriage, which was concluded in 1184 at the latest, he was married to Hedwig, the daughter of Duke Bernhard of Saxony . The only son from this marriage was Heinrich III. (1205-1217).
