Ulrich Sledz

Ulrich Sledz (born August 12,  1950 ) is a German basketball official and former national player. The 2.13 meter tall indoor player played 18 international matches for the Federal Republic of Germany.

career

Sledz played basketball in Gelsenkirchen-Buer, Aschaffenburg and Nördlingen, before joining the German national team in 1975 as a player for Bundesliga club MTV Wolfenbüttel. In 1976 Sledz was German runner-up and runner-up cup winner with Wolfenbüttel. By April 1977, he should play a total of 18 international matches.

After a detour to DTV Charlottenburg he went to the United States, where he played six games for the University of Washington team in the 1977/78 season and was part of the Eastern Washington University team in 1979 and 1980. 1980 Sledz returned to Germany and joined TV Langen, with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 1981. He also worked professionally in the city of Langen. He later played in Darmstadt. He had to end his playing career after seven knee operations. As a trainer, he worked in the youth sector in Langen.

1985 began his career as a basketball referee, until 2000 he directed games up to the regional league. From 1992 to 1994 he held the post of referee waiting for TV Langen. From 1999 Sledz was employed as a technical inspector at Bundesliga games, from 2000 he was also a referee coach and in this position looked after EuroLeague referees from 2003 and from 2006 Bundesliga referees. In 2009, Sledz was appointed FIBA ​​referee representative by the German Basketball Association and in this role took care of the international affairs of German referees. He also conducted training events for referees for the European basketball association.
